Highly multiplexed gene amplicon sequencing (Illumina)
The JMF provides highly multiplexed gene amplicon sequencing using an in-house developed two-step barcoding system (Pjevac et al., 2021; schematic workflow depicted bellow). This highly cost effective approach is easily expandable to new target genes with minimal time investment in the laboratory.
For select gene targets, (e.g., 16S rRNA, 18S rRNA, ITS region) and up to a sample volume of 90 samples/project, quantification via digital PCR can also be performed by the JMF.
Please note: for sequencing the V4 16S rRNA gene marker region, we recommend the use of a newly designed, broader coverage primer pair. We will, for the time being, inquire about your choice of primer pair for the v4 target region, but plan to transition to exclusive use of the V4EXT primers (with exception of legacy projects) by the end of 2026.
