This four-year long, interdisciplinary project aims to identify and extensively characterize plant-derived compounds that inhibit nitrification in soil – so called biological nitrification inhibitors (BNIs). Inhibiting soil nitrification with BNIs can increase the nitrogen retention in agricultural soils and plant nitrogen use efficiency. This innovative research project will be a collaborative effort between four junior researches at CMESS: Petra Pjevac (JMF) as Project Coordinator, Christopher Sedlacek and Andrew Giguere (DOME), Lucia Fuchslueger (TER), as well as Christoph Bueshl and Maria Doppler at the Institute of Bioanalytics and Agro-Metabolomics at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna.
Congratulations to the PlayNICE Team!
